Melbourne Quarter Tower
Project Overview
Melbourne Quarter, a dynamic hub in Melbourne’s CBD, integrates commercial, residential, and retail spaces, crafted by top design firms like Fender Katsalidis and Denton Corker Marshall. The development, accommodating 13,000 workers and 3,000 residents, led to 15,000 construction jobs. Featuring three commercial towers, two residential towers, and diverse retail spaces, the precinct spans 152,000 sqm of commercial and 5,000 sqm of retail space. XD House, as Kingspan’s construction tech consultant, streamlined the project with precise data, optimizing material and time efficiency through early design issue identification.
SCOPE AND CHALLENGES
Design and construction of a complex roof structure with a standing seam modular system.
Coordination of roof design with other trades to avoid clashes.
The building envelope (roof) was specified to be delivered using DFMA approach. (Design Fabrication, Manufacturing & Assembly)
The roof scope consists of the multi layered roof system: curved standing seam a product called KingZip by Kingspan Insulated Panels.
Modular shaped skylights coordination.
BIM Workflow.
GENERAL FACTS AND ACHIEVEMENTS
XD House, as the construction tech consultancy for Kingspan, has provided precise data for cutting lists and fabrication using algorithmic design and coordination.
This has resulted in material and time savings for the project.
Sophisticated and challenging curved roof structure with standing seam modular system. XD House used an algorithmic design solution to semi-automate the process.
XD House provided precise data for cutting lists and fabrication.
Added value, material waste reduction and time savings for the project.
