Sharjah International Airport Extension Project
Project Overview:
Sharjah Airport Authority is a major aviation infrastructure development located in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, designed to enhance passenger capacity and modernize airport operations to meet increasing regional demand. The project focuses on delivering a high-performance aviation environment that improves efficiency, functionality, and passenger experience.
The development plays a key role in strengthening regional connectivity and supporting long-term airport expansion strategies through upgraded terminal and façade systems.
XD House supported the project through building façade works, contributing to the delivery of coordinated and performance-driven envelope systems.
A structured BIM-based coordination approach was applied to manage complex façade interfaces, environmental exposure requirements, and integration with airport systems. This enabled improved design accuracy, constructability, and streamlined coordination across disciplines.
SCOPE AND CHALLENGES
Development and coordination of façade systems aligned with airport design requirements
Managing complex geometry and large-scale façade integration across multiple zones
Ensuring performance against harsh environmental conditions (heat, sand, wind loads)
Coordination with multidisciplinary teams to resolve clashes and maintain design intent
GENERAL FACTS AND ACHIEVEMENTS
Delivered coordinated façade solutions supporting large-scale airport expansion
Improved building envelope performance for thermal efficiency and durability
Successfully integrated façade design with overall architectural concept
Contributed to streamlined coordination through BIM-based workflows
